Last month I've tried logging in for about 6 or 7 times and the server couldn't find my username.
My old account is now called "Ã�.Sp!dér". Can you please rename it back to "Ð.Sp!dér" ?

Please consider updating to SMF 1.1.8 or even 2.0 RC. With a lot of spam bots and spammers activity these days, a few security upgrades will be usefull.

Upgraded to 1.1.8. I don't remember if there was a CAPTCHA on the registration page before, but now there is one  The increasing activity of bots was very annoying, let's hope this will stop them for some while. |

You did a great job, but 3 new bots registered today (maybe more, I only deleted 3 posts). Something's not right. Maybe the CAPTCHA is not a good security update.

The bots were registered Yesterday around 20:00.

Two bots posted today, even though they were registered a few days ago. A third one managed to register his morning, but maybe it was an actual human spammer. Let's wait for a few more days to see the actual results.

Maybe the CAPTCHA is not a good security update. I know it sounds dumb, but how about CAPTCHA at login?

I started baning them from the end of the list. I will continue to do this in the next days, and I suggest all the moderators to help if they have time. I don't like the ideea of CAPTCHA at login, but it's Codename's choice. Like he said, let's wait a few days to see if the bots continue to register. |

It seems that about 50% of all the new users that registered during December 2008-February 2009 are spamming accounts. Many of them were not yet used for actual spamming (signature, website, or posts). I will delete all the suspicious accounts in the next days. You should ban them by IP only, there are cases where there are 15+ spam accounts from a single IP.

I think that if works in any IE, it should work fine in IE8 also. It's only an opinion, and if dont' want to update, it's your chioce |
